These products come in hundreds of different variations - I post the designs that I like but if you click on the image and follow the link through to Zazzle, you can change product styles and colours, switch between men’s women’s and kid’s and you can even change the background colour of the design. United Against Islamaphobia Tee

Australia 2014 - Our Federal Government which is experiencing a downturn in the polls following a series of blunders and gaffes and the release of a budget which was as popular as genital warts, decided to fan the flames of xenophobia and whip up fear of Islam in a desperate bid to regain the support of gap toothed, beer swilling bogans who don't understand that they are being manipulated.

In the past few weeks we have seen the vandalism of Mosques, death threats on Imams and attacks on women wearing the Hijab on public transport and in our streets.
While the vandalism and death threats are bad enough, the cowardly attacks on women makes my blood boil.

Some Muslim women have removed their Hijab while others have changed their shopping habits so that they can be escorted by a family member. Many have stopped going out altogether for fear of being attacked in the street.

The perpetrators, chests filled with national pride and their heads filled with twisted logic, feel they are advancing Australian freedom by attacking innocent women but this is not what Australia is about and their actions are, dare I say it, the most 'un-Australian' thing I have ever seen. They are the worst kind of Australians and a national embarrassment.

A few weeks ago I joined a Facebook page which was started by non-Muslims to show support for Australia's Muslim community and there, with other 'bleeding hearts' we decided that we needed a physical representation of our support. We decided on a simple olive green ribbon.

I hope that wearing an olive green ribbon identifies me as someone that a Muslim can stand with if they are feeling unsafe, they can look to me for support or friendship or even just a smile.

Edward Burke wrote that "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing"
Wearing an olive ribbon is a small thing, it's not brave or world changing but I like to think that if it makes just one person feel safer - that's something.
